Project Overview

What is this for

To enhance awareness and recognition of hydrogen energy, the goal is to familiarize people with its potential benefits and applications. By increasing familiarity, individuals can more readily embrace hydrogen mobility and infrastructure, thereby stimulating a robust demand and supply for hydrogen based vehicle ecosystem.
Why

People have negative perception to hydrogen energy, and especially do not want hydrogen energy charging stations built near their city.

Hyundai Mobility needs to address this issue,
as Hyundai guarantees that it is safe to use.
How & Process

01.Mobile Station.
-Increase accessiblity to people on a daily basis.

02.Integrate with Persona Mobility (PM).
- The mobile station offers rental and charging services for Hyundai Personal Mobility (PM), enhancing user experiences. By consistently delivering positive encounters, it may boost awareness and recognition of hydrogen technology.

Suggesting a Mobile Charging Station by combining existing Hyundai Hydrogen Bus and Hyundai Personal Mobility (PM),
so that it could bring a daily hydrogen-based ecosystem to users.

By doing so, we expect familiarity and positive experiences for users, thereby reducing negative perceptions of hydrogen energy.

User Scenario Simulation Test - Low Fidelity Prototype

We have conducted a 1:1 scale simulation of the Hyundai ELEC City Bus using a low-fidelity prototype.

This simulation aims to understand how users could interact inside the bus in terms of scale and usability.

The goal is to validate our concept of integrating a charging system into the existing Hyundai bus without causing discomfort during movement inside, while also facilitating the charging of personal mobility devices.

︎
User Scenario Simulation Test - VR Simulation

Due to limited access to the Hyundai ELEC City Bus,
we conducted a VR simulation to validate scalability using the 3D modeling and rendering designed by the vehicle designer.

We found no special issues on our side, so our team continued with this concept.

Mobile Charging Station Concept Design

This concept is designed based on the scale of the Hyundai ELEC City Bus and Hyundai Personal Mobility (PM).

Bus interior is designed by vehicle designer, considering the user movement within the bus, including how users board, seat themselves, and disembark.

This concept proposes the 'Hydrogen Ecosystem,' which links the Hyundai ELEC City Bus, Personal Mobility (PM), and Hydrogen Energy Charging stations, with the 'Mobile Station' at its core.

Users can manage this system through an accompanying app service.

Standing Ver.

Seated Ver.
This allows users to charge their Personal Mobility,
which could become stuck near their seats.

Mechanical Engineering - Mobile Charging Station

With Hyundai ELEC City and Personal Mobility, mechanical engineers calculate the weight distribution, considering the mechanical systems in the bus, such as AC control and battery system.

︎
Mechanical Engineering - Personal Mobility (PM) Charging System

Mechanical Engineers suggested rotating Personal Mobility (PM) charging system by using movinb wire.

Mechanical Engineers calculated and validated this concept using an engineering program, and systematized how Personal Mobility (PM) goes in and out.

︎
App

The overall app color is blue, symbolizing clean hydrogen energy compared to gas, and it also matches Hyundai’s brand identity color.

'Greeting' is the translated version of the Korean word '마중,' which means going out to greet someone.

Also conveying the concept, to greet users into the hydrogen mobility ecosystem.
Personal Mobility Connect

Users can connect their Personal Mobility to this app to view the mileage they have used, the remaining battery charge, and the cost based on their usage.
Users can track nearby charging stations based on their current location.
